We had a day of touring yesterday…We drove from Colorado Springs to Cripple Creek, where we caught the train and toured the gold fields…The narration was very informative and was very entertaining in presenting the local history…These pictures show the abandon mines within about a 10 mile radius of Cripple Creek… Some housing
The other train…These trains were used in Mexico, hauling lead and other mining products…Talk to you later…Philip

My Grandfather worked at Cripple Creek for a while in the late 1890s. He was a big 17-year-old from Ireland when he arrived. He told me he left Cripple Creek because he figured he'd die there if he didn't. You didn't even have to go down in the mines for that. (80% of the people in Cripple Creek died from Pnumonia one winter.)
